Thackeray, Sena Bhavan were on hit list: Headley
MUMBAI: Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative David Coleman Headley told a Mumbai sessions court on Friday that Shiv Sena Bhavan in Mumbai and the National Defence College in Delhi were on the Pakistanbased militant outfit’s hit list.
The accused-turned-approver against Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal, the prime accused in the 26/11 attacks case, revealed that a possible assassination attempt on the then Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray was also in the works. “I thought, perhaps the LeT would be interested in attacking the building or assassinating the head of the organisation [Thackeray],” he said. These revelations were made in regard to one of the worst terror attacks in the country on November 26, 2008, when a group of 10 LeT terrorists wreaked havoc in the city for over 60 hours, killing 166 people and injuring 268 others.
