A 13-year-old girl was al­legedly gan­graped by some men in Kalyan re­gion of the district, fol­low­ing which five peo­ple were ar­rested, po­lice said on Wed­nes­day.

The ac­cused were iden­ti­fied as Samip Patil, Pratamesh Bhoir, Vi­nayak Patil, Nilesh Kale and Mayuresh Patil, the po­lice said.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred on Fe­bru­ary 15, when the mi­nor was alone at her res­i­dence, Thane po­lice pub­lic re­la­tions of­fi­cer Ga­janan Kab­d­ule said.

The girl re­ceived a call from an ac­quain­tance ask­ing her to ac­com­pany him for a stroll. She came out of the house to find two men on a mo­tor­cy­cle there.

When she re­fused to go with them, an­other man came and dragged her on to the mo­tor­cy­cle. She was taken to a field near Shramik Vishram build­ing be­side a brick kiln, where two other ac­cused were present.

The girl was re­peat­edly raped by four ac­cused men while Mayuresh Patil kept an eye on the road, he said. A case has been reg­is­tered against the five un­der rel­e­vant sec­tions of IPC and POCSO Act.
