12 WOMEN AMONG 18 HELD IN BAR RAID

NAVI MUM­BAI: As many as 18 peo­ple, in­clud­ing 12 women, were ar­rested af­ter po­lice raided Cen­tre Point bar at APMC on Wed­nes­day night.

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, the wait­resses in the bar were danc­ing to loud mu­sic and try­ing to at­tract cus­tomers. Fol­low­ing a tip- off, the po­lice raided the bar around 10pm and made the ar­rests.

“Af­ter we learnt about their al­leged ac­tiv­i­ties, we sent two of our of­fi­cials to the bar as fake cus­tomers. Af­ter get­ting con­firmed re­ports about it, we raided the bar,” said Su­nil Tar­male, sub-in­spec­tor of APMC po­lice sta­tion.

The ar­rested peo­ple in­clude two man­agers, two waiters and two cus­tomers.

“None of the ar­rested women are mi­nors. They are res­i­dents of Mum­bai and Navi Mum­bai and had been work­ing in the bar for the past few months,” he added.

The po­lice, how­ever, have not found any trace of a pros­ti­tu­tion racket in the bar.
