As many as 18 people, including 12 women, were arrested after police raided Centre Point bar at APMC on Wednesday night.
According to the police, the waitresses in the bar were dancing to loud music and trying to attract customers. Following a tip- off, the police raided the bar around 10pm and made the arrests.
“After we learnt about their alleged activities, we sent two of our officials to the bar as fake customers. After getting confirmed reports about it, we raided the bar,” said Sunil Tarmale, sub-inspector of APMC police station.
The arrested people include two managers, two waiters and two customers.
“None of the arrested women are minors. They are residents of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai and had been working in the bar for the past few months,” he added.
The police, however, have not found any trace of a prostitution racket in the bar.
