The Jats’ de­mand for quota hit a le­gal hur­dle when SC quashed the UPA’s de­ci­sion to give reser­va­tion to them un­der OBC. The state has no role there The state has agreed to bring a bill to grant 10% quota to Jats and four other castes un­der the spe­cial back­ward classes (SBC) cat­e­gory. But if the state gives 10% SBC quota, it will ex­ceed the cap of 50% reser­va­tion set by SC
