Court says Pachauri violated travel order; his surety forfeited
NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Saturday said TERI executive vice- chairman RK Pachauri has violated the travel conditions granted to him after he was accused of sexual harassment by a female colleague last yyear.
The court has forfeit-forfeited Pachauri’s suretyurety bond of Rs4 lakh that he fur nished. The amount will havee to be deposited by him by Monday.
The court said Pachauri failed to return to India as per sched-schedule from Sharjah,h, where he went to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award on February 16, and there was nothing on record to show that the schedule of the event was changed at the last minute.
“In these circumstances, it is clear the accused has deliberately and unilaterally extended the libertyy grantedg to him. Thus, it is a clear cascase of violation of terms andan conditions, subject tot which, the accused was permittedted to travelt abroad vide o rder dated FebruaryFebrua 15,” metropolitan magistrate Shivani Chauhan said.
