Fes­ti­val at Vashi lauds ta­masha artistes

VASHI: The state-level Dholkiphad Ta­masha Ma­hot­sav lauded the works of se­nior ta­masha artiste Gan­garam Buwa, also known as Songdya, by giv­ing him the life­time achieve­ment award on Satur­day at Cidco ex­hi­bi­tion ground in Vashi.

Di­rec­torate of cul­tural affairs has or­gan­ised a state-level fes­ti­val, which ends on Sun­day, to spread aware­ness about the folk tra­di­tion.

“The ta­masha artistes ded­i­cate their lives to the art but we of­ten fail to recog­nise and ap­pre­ci­ate their tal­ent,” said MLA Manda Mha­tre on Fri­day dur­ing the in­au­gu­ra­tion.

“We in­vite res­i­dents to un­der­stand the in­tri­ca­cies of the pop­u­lar cul­ture of the state,” said Valsa Nair, prin­ci­pal sec­re­tary of cul­tural affairs depart­ment.

“Sun­day night has per­for­mances by well- known groups from all over the state,” said Ajay Am­bekar, depart­ment di­rec­tor.
