City gardens to get new look, more facilities
The city’s gardens are all set to look greener with upgraded facilities as the garden department of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has undertaken various measures to introduce new amenities and enhance the look of the existing gardens.
With new themes under its green projects, the NMMC’s has begun work to redevelop the garden at Sectors 3 and 4 in Kopar Khairane are underway.
“The gardens will be redeveloped with a Navras theme which expresses the nine forms of human emotions. New amenities such as sitting arrangements, play areas and lighting will also be added, ” said Chandrakant Tayde, head of the garden department, NMMC.
Statues based on the nine emotions will be installed at the garden. “According to ancient literatures, knowing the nine ‘rasas’ helps understand why a certain mood comes and stays even though its original cause may be long gone. Thus, the themebased garden will have an artistic touch,” he said. According to the plan, the revamped gardens will be open to the public within a month.
