PMC presents ` 154- crore budget, no extra tax burden for residents
PANVEL: The Panvel Municipal Council (PMC) has presented a Rs154 crore annual budget for 2016-17 with expenses pegged at Rs152 crore and a surplus of Rs 2,02,07,200.
Just as was done by NMMC in Navi Mumbai, two weeks ago, there is no proposal to hike tax by PMC.
Rs50 crore- plan has been drawn under the central and state government Amrut Yojana for water supply improvement, distribution, pumping machinery and water tank.
PMC chief executive officer Mangesh Chitale, “We have not raised any tax this year so that the residents are not burdened. We are instead focussing on optimising our collections from the existing sources of revenue.”
PMC president Charusheela Gharat, “Henceforth the birth certificates of girl child will be issued absolutely free by PMC.”
Gharat said, “The budget has been proposed taking the common man’s interest and welfare into account. The stress is on improving the basic amenities of roads, water supply and sewage system.”
