PMC presents ` 154- crore bud­get, no ex­tra tax bur­den for res­i­dents

PAN­VEL: The Pan­vel Mu­nic­i­pal Coun­cil (PMC) has pre­sented a Rs154 crore an­nual bud­get for 2016-17 with ex­penses pegged at Rs152 crore and a sur­plus of Rs 2,02,07,200.

Just as was done by NMMC in Navi Mum­bai, two weeks ago, there is no pro­posal to hike tax by PMC.

Rs50 crore- plan has been drawn un­der the cen­tral and state govern­ment Amrut Yo­jana for wa­ter sup­ply im­prove­ment, dis­tri­bu­tion, pump­ing ma­chin­ery and wa­ter tank.

PMC chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer Mangesh Chi­tale, “We have not raised any tax this year so that the res­i­dents are not bur­dened. We are in­stead fo­cussing on op­ti­mis­ing our col­lec­tions from the ex­ist­ing sources of rev­enue.”

PMC pres­i­dent Charusheela Gharat, “Hence­forth the birth cer­tifi­cates of girl child will be is­sued ab­so­lutely free by PMC.”

Gharat said, “The bud­get has been pro­posed tak­ing the com­mon man’s in­ter­est and wel­fare into ac­count. The stress is on im­prov­ing the ba­sic ameni­ties of roads, wa­ter sup­ply and sewage sys­tem.”
