The Kamothe police registered a case against one real estate developer for allegedly cheating several people of ` 20 lakh promising flats in a building at Adai village in Panvel. The suspects had taken
` 3 to 5 lakh from each victim and ran away without handing over the flats.
OCTOBER 7, 2015:
Kopar Khairane police booked five persons who cheated over 30 people to tune of ` 5 crore promising flats in an under-construction building.
APRIL 13, 2015:
Kamothe police arrested 35-year-old Roopesh Kaungade and two of his accomplices for cheating around 35 people of ` 2 crore by promising them flats. They would tell people that he had started several projects in Navi Mumbai, Sukhapur, Karjat and other places of Raigad and flats are cheaper.
MARCH 27, 2015:
Kharghar police arrested Dhaniram Pawar, 45, for cheating people of around ` 30 lakh by promising flats in a housing society developed by Cidco. His 36-year-old driver was also arrested a day later.
