Murder accused let off on benefit of doubt Unclaimed cars at Kharghar police station to be auctioned
Unclaimed vehicles dumped at Kharghar police station will soon be auctioned say the police. The vehicles gathering dust have become an eyesore.
Since 2008, 44 vehicles have been kept on Kharghar police station premises for returning to the original owner.
According to assistant police inspector SM Patil, “Several have been lying unclaimed despite our attempts to find the owners. Several times, vehicles are stolen and used for crimes. The robbers often remove all traces on the vehicle which can help us reach the owner.”
Patil said, “We have completed the pre-auction formalities.”
He added, “If any of these vehicles are among those stolen or been in an accident and not repaired and the owners want to take them back, they should approach us with their documents.”
He said, “Those interested in purchasing the vehicles should contact the police station.”
