Vashi firm cheated of ` 12 lakh by its staffers
The Vashi police have booked two people for allegedly cheating a resort company of Rs12 lakh over the past three to four months. The accused in this case are however, employees of the same company.
According to the police, the company which runs a resort at Khalapur, has their booking office at Vashi. They had deployed the two to take care of the management at Khalapur.
“The two, however, stole the data of their regular clients and opened a separate company keeping their employers in dark. They started manipulating the clients to go to some other resorts. They used to take commission from those resorts by sending people like this,” said Sushil Gaikwad, assistant police inspector from Vashi police station.
After almost four months, the Vashi-based company learnt that their own employees have been sending their clients to other resorts stealing data from them. They then approached the police and registered an FIR.
“In last four months, the suspects cheated the company of around Rs12 lakh. We have registered a case under sections 402 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 43 and 66 of the IT Act. We will arrest the suspects soon,” another police officer said.
