Biker poses as cop, robs man of ` 77K at gunpoint in Uran
NAVI MUMBAI: The Uran police have registered a case after an unidentified person on bike robbed a 44- year- old man of Rs76,700 at gun point on Tuesday evening.
According to the police, the complainant Samar Roy is a resident of Kalamboli and he works with a logistic company in Uran. He went to that part of the city to pay the money to some trailer drivers of his company.
“Around 7.45 pm, an unidenti- fied person came on a bike and stopped in front of him. That person introduced himself as a policeman and then asked for the bag the complainant was carrying with him flashing a pistol. Within a few minutes, the cul- prit snatched the bag from the complainant’s hand and sped away from the spot,” said one police officer from Uran police station.
Roy shouted for help, but it was too late by then. He later approached the police and narrated the incident.
“We have registered a case under section 392 (punishment for robbery) and 170 ( personating a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). We are now investigating the case and hope to solve it soon,” another police officer said.
