City art gallery to cel­e­brate tal­ented women artists

The city’s first con­tem­po­rary ar t g all ery Shau­rya arts will be cel­e­brat­ing this Women’s Day with a dif­fer­ence.

The art gallery has or­gan­ised an event ‘ W for Women’ which will be a paint­ing ex­hi­bi­tion of 16 women artists across Navi Mum­bai.

In­ner Club of Bay­side, Navi Mum­bai is co- or­gan­is­ing the event which will be held from March 8 to March 30.

This is the first time that they are go­ing to hold an all­women artists ex­hi­bi­tion.

“Through this ex­hi­bi­tion­cum- sale, we are aim­ing to give a plat­form to all the women artists which will bring out the spec­trum of po­ten­tial­ity in them and present it to the pub­lic,” said Rasana Bhard­waj, art cu­ra­tor, Shau­rya arts gallery.

Pan­vel res­i­dent Smitha Singh, 50, will have her paint­ings ex­hib­ited for the first time. “My paint­ings are mostly based on mu­rals. How­ever, for the ex­hi­bi­tion I am do­ing colour pen­cil work on im­ages of women,” said the artist.

The art gallery has also or­gan­ised a work­shop ses­sion on March 12 and 13.
