Bees feel the heat and swarm around a pipe at Vishnudas Bhave Auditorium Vashi in Navi Mumbai.

A policeman’s house was robbed on Tuesday and his service revolver, 10 live bullets, cash and jewellery were stolen.

The stolen goods are collectively worth Rs79,200.

Kailash Haribhau Gaude, 39, is a police naik in the antiextortion cell, Thane.

He and his family were sleeping in their house at Mogarpada Road, Ovala. Around 4am, his 12-year-old daughter woke with a start as someone stamped her leg. She alerted the other family members.

But, the thieves managed to escape.

“The robbers were trying to escape after stealing the goods when a leg hit my daughter’s feet. When she asked who he was, the robber replied that it was her father and that she can go to sleep. But my daughter found something wrong and was alerted. The robber out his hand over her mouth and pushed her. He threw a blanket over her and escaped,” said Gaude.

The accused locked the door from outside. “My daughter saw that two people running,” said Gaude.

When he switched on the light, he saw the cupboard open and the place where he had kept his gun was empty.

“Cash and gold ornaments were missing from the cupboard. I called my neighbors for help who opened the door. I informed my seniors about the incident and lodged a complaint,” he said.

Senior police i nspector from anti-extortion cell Thane said: “We are searching for the accused and have gathered details about the incident. The service revolver has also been robbed.”

A police officer from Kasarwadavli police station said that they are going through the CCTV footage of nearby shops and further probe is on.

T he accused have been charged under section 457 (house trespass or house break- in to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) and 380 (theft in dwelling house) of the Indian Penal Code.
