TWO ROB­BERS HELD, GOODS WORTH ` 4.54 RE­COV­ERED

CBD BELAPUR: Navi Mum­bai crime branch has ar­rested a gang of rob­bers who com­mit­ted the crimes dur­ing both day and night. While two mem­bers of the gang have been ar­rested, po­lice are look­ing out for two more.

A team led by se­nior po­lice in­spec­tor (crime unit I) De­v­i­das Son­awane has fol­low­ing a tip-off ar­rested Nasir An­sari, 28, and Ab­dul Hakim Khan alias Babu alias Kan­cha, 29, both res­i­dents of Annab­hausathe Na­gar of Mankhurd.

Ac­cord­ing to deputy com­mis­sioner of po­lice ( crime) Dilip Sawant, “Fol­low­ing the ar­rest of the ac­cused and af­ter get­ting their po­lice cus­tody, we in­ter­ro­gated them which led to them con­fess­ing to the crimes they have com­mit­ted.”

He said, “We have learnt that they were in­volved in at least 10 house break-ins com­mit­ted both dur­ing day and night.”

He added, “So far we have re­cov­ered 252gm gold jew­ellery worth Rs4,54,000 and Rs24,000 cash that the gang had looted.”

Ac­cord­ing to Saw ant, “They had com­mit­ted crimes in Belapur, San­pada, Kopar Khairane and Vashi ar­eas. We have also re­ceived in­for­ma­tion of them hav­ing com­mit­ted sim­i­lar crime in Taloja, which we are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.”

The DCP said, “Both the ac­cused ar­rested are his­tory sheeters. Nasir worked for an in­ter­net ser­vice provider in Vashi and hence recced houses that were shu­ton the pre­text of sur­vey­ing for his job.”
