TWO ROBBERS HELD, GOODS WORTH ` 4.54 RECOVERED
CBD BELAPUR: Navi Mumbai crime branch has arrested a gang of robbers who committed the crimes during both day and night. While two members of the gang have been arrested, police are looking out for two more.
A team led by senior police inspector (crime unit I) Devidas Sonawane has following a tip-off arrested Nasir Ansari, 28, and Abdul Hakim Khan alias Babu alias Kancha, 29, both residents of Annabhausathe Nagar of Mankhurd.
According to deputy commissioner of police ( crime) Dilip Sawant, “Following the arrest of the accused and after getting their police custody, we interrogated them which led to them confessing to the crimes they have committed.”
He said, “We have learnt that they were involved in at least 10 house break-ins committed both during day and night.”
He added, “So far we have recovered 252gm gold jewellery worth Rs4,54,000 and Rs24,000 cash that the gang had looted.”
According to Saw ant, “They had committed crimes in Belapur, Sanpada, Kopar Khairane and Vashi areas. We have also received information of them having committed similar crime in Taloja, which we are investigating.”
The DCP said, “Both the accused arrested are history sheeters. Nasir worked for an internet service provider in Vashi and hence recced houses that were shuton the pretext of surveying for his job.”
