PANVEL WOMAN WAS STRANGLED TO DEATH, SAYS REPORT
NAVI MUMBAI: The unidentified woman who was found dead along Panvel-Matheran road on Sunday, was strangled to death, say the post-mortem report.
The police are still clueless about the culprit/s who killed her.
An auto driver spotted the body lying along the road near Shantivan Ashram around 12.30 am and informed the police.
She was taken to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead.
“We received the post-mortem reports on Tuesday and it said that she was strangled to death. The reports, however, have not mentioned anything about sexual assault,” said Maloji Shinde, senior police inspector of New Panvel police station.
The woman was wearing a blue saree with red border and a mangalsutra. There was also a flower tattooed on her right hand.
“Since we have not recovered any photo identity proof from her possession, we cannot say if she was a resident of Panvel or of some other area. She was around 25-year-old and seemed to be from a good family,” another police officer said.
The police have registered a case under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
“We are investigating the case and hope to solve it soon. We are also interrogating some people based on suspicion, but have not arrested them due to lack of concrete evidences,” the officer said.
