Alleged Indian Mujahideen (IM)
operative Himayat Baig was originally awarded the death sentence on five counts of the Indian Penal Code, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosive Substances Act
The Bombay HC,
however, acquitted him of all five charges for which he had been sentenced to death, and of five of the six charges for which he had been sentenced to life
The HC upheld his
conviction under Section 474 of the Indian Penal Code and under Section 5B of the Explosive Substances Act, both of which carry a maximum sentence of life in jail.
