SENIOR CITIZEN LOSES ` 40,000 TO CARD FRAUD
NAVI MUMBAI: An unidentified person, who volunteered to help a senior citizen by withdrawing money at an ATM kiosk, cheated him of Rs40,000.
According to the police, Ashok Ambale, a retired army official went to withdraw some money to an ATM kiosk near Kopar Khairane railway station on Sunday. The man came forward to help him to withdraw the money. “An unsuspecting Ambale gave him his ATM card and pin number. After withdrawing the money, the man gave it to Ambale. However, he kept Ambale’s card with him and returned a different card,” said one police officer from Kopar Khairane police station.
The accused withdrew Rs40,000 in four different transactions. “Later when Ambale checked with the bank, he learnt about the transactions. We have registered a case under section 379 of the Indian Penal Code.,” he added.
