JNU row: Anirban, Umar get interim bail for 6 months
NEW DELHI: A Delhi court granted JNU students Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya interim bail for six months on Friday in the sedition case. Additional sessions judge Reeteesh Singh asked Khalid and Bhattacharya to submit personal bonds of Rs25,000 each and sureties of equal amounts. Both were expected to walk out of jail on Friday night, but can’t leave the city without the court’s permission. The judge said sedition was a serious charge but pointed out that the police agreed it would take weeks to get forensic evidence needed to complete investigation.
