NMMC to promote green buildings, provide incentives
CBD BELAPUR: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) and Indian Green Building Council organised a workshop on ‘Green Buildings for Greener Navi Mumbai’ on Friday at the Dnyankendra auditorium at NMMC headquarters in CBD Belapur.
Municipal commissioner Dinesh Waghmare said, “Soon, we will initiate generation of power from garbage for which permission of the state government is awaited.”
Waghmare added, “We will provide incentives in the city to promote the green building concept.”
City engineer Mohan Dagaonkar said, “We have civic infrastructure to support a population of 30 lakh.”
Architect Hiten Sethi said: “Thirty per cent of the green projects in the city come from Maharashtra. There is a need for collective efforts to make Navi Mumbai green.”
