Taloja jail in­mates, staff un­dergo health check-up

More than 200 pris­on­ers of Taloja jail went through a health check-up on Satur­day pon the jail premises.

The check-up cov­ered most com­mon health con­cerns and the pris­on­ers and prison staff took keen in­ter­est in get­ting the screen­ing done and in­ter­acted with the physicians. Shamkant Shedge, jail ad­min­is­tra­tor at Taloja Jail, Khar­ga­har, said, “We are pleased to have con­ducted health check­ups for the pris­on­ers who also have a right to bet­ter health. We be­lieve that the con­cern for bet­ter health should en­cour­age them to bet­ter care of them­selves.”

He added, “Even our staff, who per­form their du­ties amid dif­fi­cult work­ing con­di­tions, were happy to get ad­vice on health and well-be­ing from For­tis’ doc­tors.”

Dr Bipin Che­vale, fa­cil­ity di­rec­tor, For­tis Hos­pi­tal, Vashi, said, “Ev­ery­one de­serves to be in good health, even the pris­on­ers. ”
