41-YEAR- OLD MAN DROWNS IN DIGHA POND, COPS SAY NO FOUL PLAY

NAVI MUM­BAI: A 41-year-old man from Digha was found dead in a pond near his res­i­dence on Thurs­day morn­ing. Some lo­cal res­i­dents of the area spotted his body float­ing in the wa­ter and in­formed the police about it.

Ac­cord­ing to the police, the de­ceased Su­nil Salunkhe stayed in a house at Ganesh Chawl with his fam­ily. “There was no in­jury mark on his body when we fished it out. We sus­pect he went to the pond to take bath and drowned. There is no foul play in this case,” said a police of­fi­cer from Ra­bale police sta­tion.

The police sent the de­ceased’s body to Navi Mum­bai Mu­nic­i­pal Cor­po­ra­tion (NMMC) hospital in Vashi for con­duct­ing post­mortem and handed it to his fam­ily. The post-mortem re­ports are yet to come. The police have reg­is­tered an ac­ci­den­tal death case.

Mean­while, the police have not been able to iden­tify the woman who was found murdered at Ghan­soli on Mon­day. She was aged be­tween 35 and 40 and had in­jury marks on her head.

“We are ex­plor­ing all pos­si­ble an­gles in this case and hope to solve it soon. We have also cir­cu­lated her pho­to­graphs to all the police sta­tions to check if they reg­is­tered any miss­ing per­son’s case in the past few days,” said C Katkar, se­nior police in­spec­tor of Ra­bale police sta­tion.
