41-YEAR- OLD MAN DROWNS IN DIGHA POND, COPS SAY NO FOUL PLAY
NAVI MUMBAI: A 41-year-old man from Digha was found dead in a pond near his residence on Thursday morning. Some local residents of the area spotted his body floating in the water and informed the police about it.
According to the police, the deceased Sunil Salunkhe stayed in a house at Ganesh Chawl with his family. “There was no injury mark on his body when we fished it out. We suspect he went to the pond to take bath and drowned. There is no foul play in this case,” said a police officer from Rabale police station.
The police sent the deceased’s body to Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) hospital in Vashi for conducting postmortem and handed it to his family. The post-mortem reports are yet to come. The police have registered an accidental death case.
Meanwhile, the police have not been able to identify the woman who was found murdered at Ghansoli on Monday. She was aged between 35 and 40 and had injury marks on her head.
“We are exploring all possible angles in this case and hope to solve it soon. We have also circulated her photographs to all the police stations to check if they registered any missing person’s case in the past few days,” said C Katkar, senior police inspector of Rabale police station.
