TMT bus runs over watch­man on bike in Thane

THANE: Two peo­ple were killed in sep­a­rate ac­ci­dents in the city in the past 24 hours.

On Thurs­day, a 40- year- old watch­man died when his twowheeler was hit by a TMT bus near Noori Baba dar­gah in Nau­pada. When the TMT bus, which had stopped at Noori Baba dar­gah stop, started, it hit Dhawals­ingh Lals­ingh Thapa, who was over­tak­ing the bus. Thapa was taken to Thane civil hospital, where he was de­clared dead.

A police of­fi­cer from Nau­pada police sta­tion said, “We ar­rested the TMT driver, Davit Gir­ija Mavli, 34. He has been booked un­der sec­tions 279, 337, 338 and 304a of the In­dian Pe­nal Code and Mo­tor Ve­hi­cles Act.”

The police said the biker was not wear­ing a hel­met. “He was se­verely in­jured on his head.”

On Wed­nes­day, a six-year-old boy died when the two-wheeler he was rid­ing on was hit by a trailer, go­ing to­wards Thane.

The boy, Kavya, had gone to Ghod­bun­der Road with his fa­ther, mother and brother. His fa­ther, Ramesh Gami, 33, who is a busi­ness­man, was rid­ing the two- wheeler. A police of­fi­cer from Kasar­wa­davli police sta­tion said, “The bike was hit by the trailer near Gaimukh naka. Ramesh lost his con­trol. The driver of trailer, Rakeshku­mar Vaish­nav, was ar­rested.”
