City’s air healthy for first time this year on Friday
MUMBAI: For the first time this year, Mumbai’s air was healthy to breathe, thanks to speedy winds that dispersed pollutants on Friday. The city’s air quality index (AQI) fell under the ‘good’ category, with a reading of 99 on Friday morning, compared to the ‘ poor’ AQI of 245 on Thursday morning.
SAFAR researchers said weather conditions were responsible for cleaning up the air. “The sea has dispersed a large amount of pollutants generated because of the Deonar fire and Holi effigies,” said Gufran Beig, director, SAFAR.
