Sena corporator booked over illegal construction
DIGHA: The Rabale MIDC police have registered more cases with regard to the construction of illegal buildings in Digha.
Among those booked is Shiv Sena corporator Jagdish Gavte. A total of seven people have been booked by the police in two separate cases this week.
Following court orders, MIDC began action against 99 buildings in Digha last year. Several residents had approached the court following which some did get relief. Some residents even approached the chief minister.
Though the government has shown a positive inclination towards regularising the buildings, the threat of action has not yet receded for the residents.
Hence, the affected residents continue to complain against the developers of their buildings to the police by filing cases.
So far, cases against 58 people have been registered at Rabale MIDC police station. Two of these cases were registered a couple of days before Holi.
Residents Abhang Shinde and Vivek Goud have filed two separate cases, following which, seven people have been booked.
Those booked include Shiv Sena corporator from ward number 5, Jagdish Gavte. Others booked include Janabai Gavte, Arun Gavte, Devraj Vavia, Shirish Patil, Prakash Ture and Vijay Sharma.
Deputy commissioner of police (zone I) Shahji Umap said, “The residents have complained that the accused had constructed buildings illegally on land which through fake documents they had claimed to be their own and thereby cheated them.”
The police are investigating the matter further.
The MIDC began taking action against illegal structures last year.
