TWO HELD FOR SELLING DIESEL, TANKER WORTH ` 23 LAKH SEIZED
NAVI MUMBAI: The Turbhe police have arrested one driver and one cleaner of a tanker for allegedly selling diesel, they were supposed to a deliver to a petrol pump in the city.
According to the police, the driver Shambahadur Patel, 35, and the cleaner Vijay Verma, 23, both natives of Uttar Pradesh were on the way to the petrol pump in Turbhe. However, they stopped the tanker at different places and siphoned off the diesel with plastic pipes.
Officials from the diesel company and the petrol pump registered a case with the police on Tuesday. The police arrested the driver and the cleaner within a few hours.
“We have also seized the diesel-laden tanker worth Rs22.99 lakh. We are now investigating the case and hope to arrest all the culprits involved in the crime,” said Krupali Borse, assistant police inspector from Turbhe police station.
The police have registered a case under sections 379 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
