TWO HELD FOR SELL­ING DIESEL, TANKER WORTH ` 23 LAKH SEIZED

NAVI MUM­BAI: The Turbhe police have ar­rested one driver and one cleaner of a tanker for al­legedly sell­ing diesel, they were sup­posed to a de­liver to a petrol pump in the city.

Ac­cord­ing to the police, the driver Sham­ba­hadur Pa­tel, 35, and the cleaner Vi­jay Verma, 23, both na­tives of Ut­tar Pradesh were on the way to the petrol pump in Turbhe. How­ever, they stopped the tanker at dif­fer­ent places and si­phoned off the diesel with plas­tic pipes.

Of­fi­cials from the diesel com­pany and the petrol pump reg­is­tered a case with the police on Tues­day. The police ar­rested the driver and the cleaner within a few hours.

“We have also seized the diesel-laden tanker worth Rs22.99 lakh. We are now in­ves­ti­gat­ing the case and hope to ar­rest all the cul­prits in­volved in the crime,” said Kru­pali Borse, as­sis­tant police in­spec­tor from Turbhe police sta­tion.

The police have reg­is­tered a case un­der sec­tions 379 and 34 of the In­dian Pe­nal Code (IPC).
