Jui Na­gar sub­way in pa­thetic state, cor­po­ra­tors de­mand re­vamp

NERUL: The pot­holes on the road at Jui Na­gar sub­way have made life hell for the mo­torists, pas­sen­gers and lo­cal res­i­dents of Jui Na­gar. The sub­way is use by thou­sands of res­i­dents of Jui Na­gar, Nerul and Shi­ra­vane.

The Swayambhu Ganesh tem­ple lo­cated next to the sub­way is thronged by a large num­ber of devo­tees ev­ery Tues­day and on Chaturthi and Ganesh Jayanti days. Pa­tients and their rel­a­tives go­ing to Shi­ra­vane FRU hospital have to face the hot­holes. Stu­dents and their par­ents go­ing to var­i­ous schools in the area have to make reg­u­lar use of the sub­way. They have make their way through the wa­ter in the sub­way.

Lo­cal cor­po­ra­tor, Vishal Sasane, said: “NMMC needs to make ar­range­ments for wa­ter to drain. I will also de­mand a speed-breaker.”

NMMC house leader JD Su­tar, the lo­cal cor­po­ra­tor, said: “I had tabled a res­o­lu­tion for the re­pair of the sub­way in the first general body meet­ing of the present house of NMMC.”

He added, “I had de­manded that pot­holes be filled and the grills be re­placed.”

Umesh Patil, NMMC deputy en­gi­neer, es­tab­lish­ment depart­ment, Nerul, said, “We have sent two pro­pos­als for beau­ti­fi­ca­tion, gut­ter work and con­cretiza­tion of the sub­way.”
