Eight bikes stolen from across the state seized, 3 ar­rested

CBD BELAPUR: The Kalam­boli police this week ar­rested three peo­ple who have stolen mo­tor­cy­cles from var­i­ous cities in the state. They have re­cov­ered eight bikes from them.

Fol­low­ing re­cent in­ci­dents of bike thefts in the city, the Kalam­boli police led by se­nior police in­spec­tor KR Popere had been on alert. Re­cently, the police ar­rested Adil Pathan, 19, a res­i­dent of Sec­tor 2E in Kalam­boli while he was mov­ing about in a sus­pi­cious man­ner near Sec­tor 4E gar­den of Kalam­boli.

Ac­cord­ing to police com­mis­sioner Prab­hat Ran­jan, “He con­fessed to hav­ing stolen bikes. We then re­cov­ered two such bikes worth Rs70,000 from him.”

He added, “One of the bikes, Honda Leo had been stolen in Kalam­boli. An­other Hero Honda Splen­dour Plus bike had been stolen from Satara. Its num­ber plate had been changed.”

In an­other in­stance, foll ow­ing a tip- of f, the crime branch of­fi­cers and per­son­nel of the police sta­tion ar­rested Amardeep Ke­vat, 23, a res­i­dent of Road­pali in Kalam­boli and Ji­gar Chan­darana, 19, of Sec­tor 1 in Kalam­boli.

Ran­jan said, “The duo con­fessed to hav­ing stolen a Ba­jaj Pla­tini 124cc bike and two Hero Honda Splen­dours from Kalam­boli, a Honda Shine mo­tor cy­cle from Go­vandi, a Ba­jaj Dis­cover from Sha­ha­pur, and a Ba­jaj CT 100 from Thane.”

Ran­jan added, “Six bikes worth Rs90,000 have been re­cov­ered from them.”
