Cig­a­rette cos shut fac­to­ries over larger pic­to­rial warn­ings

NEW DELHI: Ma­jor cig­a­rettes man­u­fac­tur­ers have de­cided to shut fac­to­ries and stop man­u­fac­tur­ing cig­a­rettes with ef­fect from Fri­day, say­ing the larger pic­to­rial warn­ings rule — that warn­ings should cover 85% of the pack — which came into ef­fect on April 1 was am­bigu­ous. The To­bacco In­sti­tute of In­dia said the pro­duc­tion halt would cause a loss

of Rs350 crore a day.
