Five- day theatre fest promises skits, mimes, mono acts
CBD BELAPUR: Theatre lovers can look forward to a five- day theatre festival at Urban Haat amphitheatre this month. One of the oldest theatre groups in the city, Yavnika Theatre are organising their 3rd annual festival titled ‘Memoria’ from April 23 to April 27.
Artists from the theatre group said that the show is going to be different from earlier years with a variety of programmes such as skits, mimes, mono-acts, dance and musical plays.
“We had a successful theatre festival at Urban Haat last year and received a warm response from the audience. This year, we are trying our best to make it more innovative and interesting and give powerful performances that connect with the art and will give the audience unforgettable memories. Hence we have kept the theme as ‘Memoria’,” said Dinesh Singh, theatre artiste and founder of Yavnika theatre.
All the performances will be centred on thought-provoking topics.
Yavnika theatre is the first theatre group in the city to hold a theatre festival back in 2013 which was also their first festival. The second festival was held last year and this will be the third year.
Organisers from Urban Haat said that they pull in huge crowds during these theatre festivals.
“Navi Mumbaiites do not have many options to watch theatre and plays in the city except for few auditoriums. Hence we want more crowds to come in and enjoy the fest at Urban Haat,” said KSV Nair, manager of Urban Haat. The theatre festival will go on from 7pm to 9 pm.
