DIGGING PITS FOR WATER
The residents of
Pachvadpada, near Kasarwadavli, 3 kms from Ghodbunder Road, are facing the worst water crisis.
The small village has 75 houses and 125 residents near the Yeoor foothills, behind Haware city in Kasarwadavli. The villagers do not receive a drop of water from the Thane Municipal Corporation. “We dig five to six-feet deep trenches along the stream and manage to fill one or two pots of water,” said Santosh Gavit, 30, who has five members to look after. The stream used to flow from the forest to the village which provided water till January as the villagers had harvested rain water in the stream through small dams. However, the stream too dried in February. TMC stopped the tanker water supply to the village after the crisis worsensed
