IIT fees doubled from `90,000 to `2,00,000 a year
The annual fee for undergraduate courses at each Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) will be raised from R90,000 to R2 lakh from the upcoming academic session, an order by the human resource development (HRD) ministry said on Thursday.
The decision came a day after HRD minister Smriti Irani said students belonging to the SC, ST and differently abled categories would get full tuition-fee waiver at all IITs. Apart from these categories, full fee waiver will be given to students from families with annual income less than Rs1 lakh.
