JEWELLERY WORTH `24 LAKH MISSING FROM NERUL FLAT
The police have registered a house-breaking case after gold jewellery worth Rs23.8 lakh went missing from a flat in Nerul. Shakhni Shetty, 57, a resident of Arunudai housing society, went to a nearby temple around 4.30 pm on April 1. After sometime, her 15-yearold daughter, locked the door and went to meet a friend at Vashi. Shakhni had an extra key with her. When she reached home after two hours, she found there was a different lock in her door. “A neighbour informed that her daughter had left the house without locking it and so he locked the door. Shakhani’s daughter said she had locked the door before leaving the house,” said Vikrant Tharkar, police sub-inspector. “The next morning, Shakhni discovered that gold jewellery worth Rs23.8 lakh was missing from the house. We have registered a case under sections 454, 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code,” he added.
