2 killed in sep­a­rate hit-and-runs in Thane

Two peo­ple died in sep­a­rate ac­ci­dents in Thane in two days. In both cases, the po­lice have lodged a case against uniden­ti­fied peo­ple who fled from the ac­ci­dent.

On Thurs­day around 7.30am, Naresh Jetha­lal Sharda, 51, a busi­ness­man from Ma­ji­wada, had come to Nau­pada for some work. While he was re­turn­ing home on his two-wheeler, an un­known ve­hi­cle hit Naresh from be­hind. He was taken to the Thane civil hos­pi­tal where he was de­clared dead ow­ing to in­ter­nal in­juries.

“A case was reg­is­tered un­der rel­e­vant sec­tions of the IPC,” said a po­lice of­fi­cer from Nau­pada po­lice sta­tion.

In another ac­ci­dent, a 55-yearold woman was hit by a ve­hi­cle on Wed­nes­day. The ac­ci­dent took place near Wa­gle Es­tate, Thane, around 10am. Dur­ing pre­lim­i­nary in­ves­ti­ga­tion, it was found that the woman was men­tally chal­lenged. She was taken to the Thane civil hos­pi­tal where she was de­clared dead.”

A po­lice of­fi­cer from Thane com­mis­sion­er­ate, said, “In both ac­ci­dents, we are go­ing through CCTV footage to trace the ve­hi­cle driver who fled away from the spot.”
