Two Raigad res­i­dents ar­rested in Thane, drugs seized from them

The po­lice have ar­rested two men in pos­ses­sion of 2 kg efidrine, a drug sim­i­lar to Meth, at Var­tak Na­gar in Thane on Wed­nes­day. The ac­cused, iden­ti­fied as Sa­gar Powale,28, and Mayur Sukhdare, 25, both res­i­dents of Raigad district, work in a pri­vate firm, said the po­lice.

Af­ter re­ceiv­ing a tip-off, of­fi­cials of the Thane crime branch unit -3 and Thane anti-nar­cotics cell laid a trap near Kashinath Ghanekar Hall from where the two were caught.

and a case was also reg­is­tered at the Var­tak Na­gar po­lice sta­tion un­der the NDPS Act,” said subin­spec­tor Amol Walzade of the anti-nar­cotics cell. The mar­ket value of 2 kg ‘efidrine’is around Rs80 lakh, said the po­lice.

Walzade said, “The ac­cused were pro­duced in court which re­manded them in 10 days po­lice cus­tody. We are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the two to find out if they are linked to any gangs in Mum­bai and Navi Mum­bai.”
