Two Raigad residents arrested in Thane, drugs seized from them
The police have arrested two men in possession of 2 kg efidrine, a drug similar to Meth, at Vartak Nagar in Thane on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Sagar Powale,28, and Mayur Sukhdare, 25, both residents of Raigad district, work in a private firm, said the police.
After receiving a tip-off, officials of the Thane crime branch unit -3 and Thane anti-narcotics cell laid a trap near Kashinath Ghanekar Hall from where the two were caught.
“After frisking them, we recovered 2 kg of ‘efidrine’ from them. They were then arrested

and a case was also registered at the Vartak Nagar police station under the NDPS Act,” said subinspector Amol Walzade of the anti-narcotics cell. The market value of 2 kg ‘efidrine’is around Rs80 lakh, said the police.
Walzade said, “The accused were produced in court which remanded them in 10 days police custody. We are investigating the two to find out if they are linked to any gangs in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.”
