Six Thane roads to be turned into model roads
THANE: Six roads in Thane will soon have a facelift as the Thane Municipal Corporation has finalised a list of roads to be developed as model roads.
The proposal to convert these roads into model roads will be tabled in the general body meeting to be held next week.
While the city has several wide roads, these six roads have not been designed according to the convenience of the pedestrians and traffic.
Most roads do not have proper signage and pedestrian crossings are worn out. Overflowing dustbins lead to littering on the roads. Most footpaths are in poor state.
With a budget of Rs66 crore, the model roads will be designed to resolve these issues.
Civic commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal said, “The roads will have proper signage, bus bays, huge green covers and railings. Other amenities include cycle tracks, pedestrian walkways, hawking zones, seating arrangements, car parks and dustbins among others. The roads will also be aesthetically beautified.”
