A 26-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his 31-year-old friend in a fit of rage over a past dispute on Wednesday at Kausa in Mumbra, Thane. The accused Mohammed Dawood Elias Shaikh, a resident of Mumbra, and the deceased Imran Omar Shaikh were daily wage workers at a lace workshop in Mumbra. On Wednesday, Mohammed and Imran had an argument about quitting the job. “The two had an argument a couple of days ago after Mohammed told Imran to leave the job. The matter was, however, sorted by the owner. But on Wednesday both had a similar argument. Mohammed, who was carrying a knife, stabbed Imran,” said D Chavan, investigation officer from Mumbra. The other workers who witnessed the argument alerted the owner and soon Mohammed was caught and handed over to the police, said Chavan. Chavan said, “The two were good friends and had been working at the same place for the past several months. Mohammed was remanded in police custody for five days.”
