Rain­wa­ter har­vest­ing is col­lec­tion and stor­age of rain­wa­ter that runs off roof tops, open grounds and roads. The wa­ter can be ei­ther be stored or recharged into the ground wa­ter.

The NMMC in 2008 made it manda­tory for all build­ings stand­ing on plots mea­sur­ing 300 sqm and above to set up a rain­wa­ter har­vest­ing unit.

As per the rules, if any builder fails to com­ply with the rule, oc­cu­pancy cer­tifi­cate will be with­held.
