NMMT TO BUY 150 MORE MIDI-BUSES

NAVI MUM­BAI: Af­ter pur­chas­ing 20 midi buses last week, the Navi Mum­bai Mu­nic­i­pal Trans­port is wait­ing for an­other 150 buses they had or­dered for a few months ago. The new buses are likely to come within a few months.

“We are run­ning a to­tal of 360 buses, in­clud­ing 70 air­con­di­tioned ones on 48 routes. This num­ber is not suf­fi­cient to cover such a huge area. We will soon get more buses,” said Sirish Arad­wad, gen­eral man­ager of NMMT.

“The new buses we have or­dered for, will not be used out­side Navi Mum­bai,” he said. They have re­ceived a good re­sponse from the new bus ser­vice started be­tween Pan­vel rail­way sta­tion and Karan­jade last week. The first ser­vice from Pan­vel is at 6.42am while the last ser­vice is at 8.40pm. Sim­i­larly, from Karan­jade, the first ser­vice is at 7am and the last ser­vice is at 9pm.
