Three toll plazas on Uran-JNPT Road to shut down from Sun

URAN: The Na­tional High­way Au­thor­ity of In­dia (NHAI) has or­dered three toll plazas on the high­ways that con­nect to JNPT to be shut from May 1. The de­ci­sion has been taken to fa­cil­i­tate road widen­ing projects on the high­ways.

There are tree toll plazas on na­tional high­way num­ber 4B con­nect­ing Uran- JNPT and state high­way num­ber 54. The plazas had come up at Das­tan (Jaai) on na­tional high­way and at Chirle and Karan­jade on the na­tional high­way.

“Both t he high­ways are be­ing con­verted into six- and eight- lane roads. The work is be­ing un­der­taken by Mum­bai JNPT port road com­pany,” said an NHAI of­fi­cial,

He added, “Hence NHAI has or­dered the two com­pa­nies op­er­at­ing the 3 toll nakas to stop col­lect­ing toll from May 1.”

The road widen­ing project was i nau­gu­rated by Prime Min­is­ter Naren­dra Modi in Au­gust 2014.

The NHAI had then called for ten­ders. The work is to be com­pleted by 2018. At a meet­ing held on Fe­bru­ary 25 in Delhi, NHAI de­cided to shut the toll plazas, so the work can be car­ried out smoothly.

Both the high­ways are be­ing con­verted into six- and eight-lane roads. The work is be­ing un­der­taken by Mum­bai JNPT port road com­pany. Hence NHAI has or­dered the com­pa­nies op­er­at­ing the nakas to stop col­lect­ing toll from May 1. AN NHAI OF­FI­CIAL
