BMC panel nod to ` 226cr contract for two firms in road scam case
The civic body’s standing committee — dominated by the Shiv Sena-BJP combine — on Wednesday approved giving contracts worth Rs226 crore to build four bridges to the two firms that its own probe had found guilty of irregularities while carrying out road repairs — and at 36% to 54% above the estimated cost.
The opposition was quick to hit out at the ruling allies, saying the awarding of contracts could have been deferred, and eventually cancelled.
