Amar­jeet Kaur, a 45-year-old a res­i­dent of Nerul, re­ceived a call from an un­known num­ber on her mo­bile phone. The caller in­tro­duced him­self as a bank of­fi­cial where she had an ac­count and then asked for her credit card de­tails. He also said that her card will be blocked if she did not give the de­tails. Kaur shared the de­tails and within min­utes she lost Rs15,000 from her ac­count. She then reg­is­tered an FIR with Nerul po­lice


Vinayak Narayan Munj went to the ATM kiosk around 2.20pm at Nerul and with­drew Rs1,000 us­ing his debit card. He re­ceived an alert of this trans­ac­tion on his mo­bile phone. How­ever, af­ter a few min­utes, he re­ceived an­other alert in­form­ing that Rs14,000 had been with­drawn from his ac­count. Con­fused, he went back to the ATM kiosk to check if some­one else with­drew the money af­ter him. How­ever, he did not find any­one there


Ashok Am­bale, a re­tired Army of­fi­cial went to with­draw some money to an ATM kiosk near Kopar Khairane rail­way sta­tion. As he en­tered the kiosk, an uniden­ti­fied per­son came for­ward to help him. Am­bale gave too him his ATM card and PIN to with­draw money. Af­ter the trans­ac­tion the man handed Am­bale a card that looked just like his. Af­ter Am­bale left the ATM kiosk, the man with­drew Rs40,000 from his ac­count us­ing his debit card through four dif­fer­ent trans­ac­tions us­ing the ATM card.
