Duo robs car at knifepoint in Thane
A driver working for a vehicle showroom at Dahisar was kidnapped and robbed of a car by two unidentified men on Thursday.
A case has been filed with the Shildaighar police station. No arrests have been made yet.
The incident took place on Thursday, when Arbaz Abdul Shaikh, 20, was going to deliver Mahindra XUV from Dahisar to Ghatkopar.
A Bhoir, investigating officer, said, “When Shaikh was about to leave, two unknown accused hit the bonnet with their hands. Shaikh got down to check the damage caused to the vehicle.”
The duo then threatened Shaikh at knifepoint, pushed him into the car and asked him to head towards the Mumbra bypass road near Talasari. Shaikh was asked to get off in the middle of the road and the duo fled with the vehicle and the driver’s mobile phone.
“Shaikh informed his senior officer, who then lodged a complaint.
The collective worth of the items that have been robbed is Rs20 lakh.
We will get their sketches made based on the description provided by Shaikh. We are trying to trace the vehicle. We will also check if history- sheeters were involved in it,” said Bhoir.
The unknown accused have been charged under sections 363 ( punishment for kidnapping), 392 (punishment for robbery), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of 34 of the Indian Penal Code ( IPC).
