Drought: Fad­navis asks PM for ad­di­tional funds

Chief min­is­ter Deven­dra Fad­navis has pe­ti­tioned Prime Min­is­ter Naren­dra Modi for in­creased cen­tral-gov­ern­ment fund­ing to tide over the state’s drought cri­sis.

In his meet­ing with Modi, Fad­navis gave a pre­sen­ta­tion of the var­i­ous steps be­ing un­der­taken by his gov­ern­ment to help 28,000 drought-prone vil­lages, apart from other long-term ini­tia­tives.

Ac­cord­ing to Fad­navis, Modi was very re­cep­tive to his

de­mands made by the state gov­ern­ment. “The cen­tral gov­ern­ment has al­ready sanc­tioned Rs3,500 crore to the state, which is the high­est till date. How­ever, the drought has now hit 11,000 more

vil­lages and hence we re­quested the Cen­tre al­low us to file a sup­ple­men­tary mem­o­ran­dum for more funds. This has also been agreed to,” said Fad­navis. CON­TIN­UED ON P7
