RPI WORKER MURDERED IN THANE
THANE: A 30-year-old activist of the Republican Party of India (RPI) was murdered with choppers, iron rods and bamboo sticks at Ulhasnagar on Tuesday.
The eight accused who committed the crime are absconding.
The police said they knew the RPI worker, Dipak Sansare, who was a shakha pramukh of Ulhasnagar area.
On Tuesday, a friend told Sansare that some of his friends have called him near Madhubhuvan Chowk Road, Ulhasnagar 2, to settle a dispute.
Deputy commissioner of police (zone 4) Sunil Bhardwaj said, “Sansare had been released from jail a couple of months ago. His friends involved in a clash are in jail.”
He was attacked by the eight, who are between 20 and 30 years, as soon as he reached the place.
The eight had come armed with weapons. They assaulted him and left him bleeding on the road. The police recovered a knife from the spot.
A police inspector from Ulhasnagar police station said, “After the incident, a crowd gathered at the spot but no one seems to have seen anything.”
