DEVELOPER BUILDS ON CIDCO PLOT, BOOKED
NAVI MUMBAI: The Belapur police have booked a real estate developer for allegedly illegally constructing a building on a plot at Kopar Khairane that belonged to City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco).
According to the police, Cidco had acquired the plot at Sector 4 from local farmers, but they did not allot it to anyone.
The builder took permission from the NMMC by submitting some fake documents and constructed a five-storey building on the plot.
By the time Cidco officials learnt about it, the building had been built. They approached the police and registered a first information report against the developer.
“We are examining all the papers related to the said plot. Prima facie it appears that the developer unscrupulously took possession of the plot and constructed the building. It is however, not clear if he sold any flat to anyone in that building,” said Viswash Babar, police subinspector from CBD Belapur police station.
The police have registered a case under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
They are now searching for him, but have not been able to find any clue about his whereabouts so far.
“We are following certain leads and we hope to zero in on the accused soon,” another police officer said.
