CHANDIGARH/TORONTO: Hardev Singh, head of the Nirankari Mission, was killed in a road accident in Canada on Friday. He was 62.

Hardev Singh, son of assassinated Nirankari head Gurbachan Singh, was in Canada to attend spiritual meetings. A Nirankari International Samagam (NIS) was scheduled to be held in June in Toronto in Canada.

The accident occurred at approximately 7pm in the Montreal suburb of Beauharnois. Hardev Singh’s vehicle hit a ditch and overturned. Sgt. Ingrid Asselin, spokesperson for the provincial police, Surete de Quebec, said, “There was no collision. It was just one car and the driver appeared to have lost control.” There were four passengers in the car. While Hardev Singh was declared dead at the local hospital, the other occupant of the rear seat suffered from several injuries while those in front had minor injuries.
