Strict civic chief spells out work tim­ings for of­fi­cials

Mu­nic­i­pal Com­mis­sioner Tukaram Munde has spelled out his in­struc­tions to the civic ad­min­is­tra­tion.

He has is­sued clear in­struc­tions to all the ward of­fi­cers on how he ex­pects the ward of­fices to func­tion to en­sure that res­i­dents do not face any has­sle.

Munde has also laid stress on e-gov­er­nance with the ob­jec­tive to pro­vide civic ser­vices to the res­i­dents at the click of a but­ton.

Ac­cord­ing to deputy mu­nic­i­pal com­mis­sioner (admn) Ja­gan­nath Sin­narkar, “To en­sure com­plete of­fice dis­ci­pline, the com­mis­sioner has or­dered that the of­fi­cials and per­son­nel should be busy at their of­fice with their work, dur­ing the of­fice hours be­tween 10 am and 5.45 pm.”

He added, “In­struc­tions have been is­sued that all should en­sure that the lunch time will be a max­i­mum of half an hour be­tween 1pm and 2pm.”

All of­fi­cials and per­son­nel, should be­fore leav­ing NMMC ju­ris­dic­tion dur­ing pub­lic and weekly hol­i­day, take per­mis­sion of ward of­fi­cer or de­part­men­tal head. All ward of­fi­cers should take the com­mis­sion­ers per­mis­sion.

Sin­narkar said: “The com­mis­sioner will hold meet­ing with all ward of­fi­cers ev­ery Mon­day to take stock of the work done by the wards in the past week. The ward of­fi­cers have been asked to en­sure that their mo­bile phones are switched on at all times.”

The com­mis­sioner has also or­dered that to en­sure smooth con­duct of of­fi­cial work, ad­di­tional city en­gi­neer will now han­dle wa­ter sup­ply, sewage and toi­let man­age­ment and hos­pi­tal con­struc­tion.

As­sis­tant city en­gi­neer will han­dle the elec­tri­cal depart­ment. The de­part­men­tal head of all these de­part­ments will be city en­gi­neer Mo­han Da­gaonkar who will over­see their func­tion­ing.

Sin­narkar said, “The com­mis­sioner has or­dered that the ob­jec­tive of the ex­er­cise is to en­sure that the func­tion­ing of the civic body is cit­i­zen-friendly. He has asked of­fi­cials and per­son­nel to be ded­i­cated to­wards their work."
