Strict civic chief spells out work timings for officials
Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Munde has spelled out his instructions to the civic administration.
He has issued clear instructions to all the ward officers on how he expects the ward offices to function to ensure that residents do not face any hassle.
Munde has also laid stress on e-governance with the objective to provide civic services to the residents at the click of a button.
According to deputy municipal commissioner (admn) Jagannath Sinnarkar, “To ensure complete office discipline, the commissioner has ordered that the officials and personnel should be busy at their office with their work, during the office hours between 10 am and 5.45 pm.”
He added, “Instructions have been issued that all should ensure that the lunch time will be a maximum of half an hour between 1pm and 2pm.”
All officials and personnel, should before leaving NMMC jurisdiction during public and weekly holiday, take permission of ward officer or departmental head. All ward officers should take the commissioners permission.
Sinnarkar said: “The commissioner will hold meeting with all ward officers every Monday to take stock of the work done by the wards in the past week. The ward officers have been asked to ensure that their mobile phones are switched on at all times.”
The commissioner has also ordered that to ensure smooth conduct of official work, additional city engineer will now handle water supply, sewage and toilet management and hospital construction.
Assistant city engineer will handle the electrical department. The departmental head of all these departments will be city engineer Mohan Dagaonkar who will oversee their functioning.
Sinnarkar said, “The commissioner has ordered that the objective of the exercise is to ensure that the functioning of the civic body is citizen-friendly. He has asked officials and personnel to be dedicated towards their work."
