Com­plete pre-mon­soon work by May 25: Radha

CBD BELAPUR: Cidco joint man­ag­ing di­rec­tor V Radha, who has the charge of Navi Mumbai mu­nic­i­pal com­mis­sioner as the present in­cum­bent Tukaram Munde is on leave, has di­rected the civic of­fi­cials to en­sure co­or­di­na­tion be­tween var­i­ous agen­cies dur­ing the mon­soon.

She has also or­dered that all pre-mon­soon work be com­pleted by May 25.

Radha held a spe­cial meet­ing of the of­fi­cials on Thurs­day to take stock of the pre-mon­soon work and the mea­sures to be taken in emer­gen­cies dur­ing the mon­soon.

Radha in­structed that pre­mon­soon works like nul­lah and gutter clean­ing, stop­ping of dig­ging of roads and their lev­el­ling be com­pleted by May 25.

Deputy mu­nic­i­pal com­mis­sioner Ja­gan­nath Sin­narkar said, “Since the del­uge in 2005, the NMMC has been pre­par­ing a de­tailed disaster man­age­ment soon and fol­lows it strictly. A sim­i­lar plan will be pre­pared this year as well. The civic body will pub­lish two book­lets de­tail­ing the disaster man­age­ment plan along with the con­tact num­bers of agen­cies and NGOs, in-charge of var­i­ous re­sponses ” aster man­age­ment com­mit­tee headed by mu­nic­i­pal com­mis­sioner Tukaram Munde has been formed. It in­cludes rep­re­sen­ta­tives from city’s gov­ern­ment and semi-gov­ern­ment de­part­ments.”

Ad­e­quate sup­plies of med­i­bat out­break of any dis­ease or epi­demic. A mas­sive aware­ness cam­paign too will be un­der­taken to en­sure that the res­i­dents take pre­cau­tions.

Sin­narkar said, “The com­mis­sioner has asked of­fi­cials con­cerned to take nec­es­sary ters like flood, land slide dur­ing mon­soon sea­son and co­or­di­nate with each other to min­imise the im­pact of such dis­as­ters.

He added, “She dis­cussed and re­viewed the pre­ven­tive ac­tions taken so far stated that there should be no neg­li­gence in the
